In this episode, our SPB rendered a "KuraL" related to "listening being the greatest asset" that one can possess which is over and above the material assets.
Towards the end of the program, the social message which he delivered was related to the indisciplined manner in which the public encroach a part of the road near the bus stops leaving literally little space for the buses to park which also creates hardship for the senior citizens who want to board the bus. He pleaded all to set example of discipline ourselves by forming queues in public places which will kindle others too to follow suit and thereby create a disciplined atmosphere making life easy for us and reducing delays and traffic jams.
When one ofthe contestants sang "Kumbuda Pona Dheivam...." song, our SPB expressed words of praise for the singer "Malathi" (who had originally rendered this song in the film) and also words of concern for her voice. As all of you may know, Malathi has been branded to sing only those high pitched item numbers in all the South Indian languages. This he said could damage the vocal chords to a large extent and moreover required lot of energy on the part of the singer. He requested MDs to consider her for soft songs also if she could render them well. It seems Malathi had asked our SPB to recommed her for soft songs also. Anyhow, he felt she was blessed to have atleast this opportunity to sing these songs. He also praised the contestant for singing the song well.
When one of the contestants sang the song "Vaththikuchhi Paththikkaadhadaa" from film "Dheena", he explained the importance of "Bhavam" when singing a song. The contestant had sung the song without the ferociousness that the song required and he stressed that a singer should understand the mood of the song and render it accordingly. He then adivsed the contestant to really freak out the next time he sang this song on stage.
